Know what to expect before you get to Mexico

Passport Information

This is an international trip via air. You will need a passport. You may enter Canada and Mexico land borders with a US passport card. However, for entry via air to Mexico or Canada you need to have a valid passport. Please be sure your passport is up to date and will not expire during your stay in Mexico.

Traveling to Los Cabos

Here are some things you need to know about navigating the airport and customs, so you can get on your way to Grand Velas.

Step-by-Step Airport Arrival Information:

  1. Once you arrive at the Los Cabos International Airport, you will disembark the plane with the immigration and customs declaration forms you received during your flight.

  2. Have your passport and forms readily available as you approach the immigration checkpoint.

  3. Pick up your luggage at baggage claim, and proceed through customs.

  4. As you proceed through the terminal and head outside, you will notice many people interested in speaking with you. Please disregard these people as they are timeshare promoters, and proceed directly outside to locate your driver.

  5. You will find your transportation representative located outside under Umbrella #5 who will be holding a sign with the DoorDash logo on it. They will be wearing a green polo shirt with black pants.

  6. Please check in with your transportation representative as they will contact your driver upon arrival. Your driver should take approximately 15 minutes to arrive at the airport.

  7. Depending on your arrival time, most of you will be grouped together in one vehicle. Please be prepared to wait up to 1 hour for additional flights and/or unforeseen delays.

COVID-19 Travel Advisories

Weather Expectations

May is the best time to visit Cabo! Daily high temperatures increase by 3°F, from 87°F to 90°F, rarely falling below 82°F or exceeding 95°F. Daily low temperatures increase by 4°F, from 68°F to 73°F, rarely falling below 65°F or exceeding 77°F.

Packing Tips

We recommend you bring lots of sunscreen, sandals, sunglasses, your passport, and anything else you would typically bring to the beach!

If you plan to dine at one of the resort’s on-site restaurants, please view the recommended dress attire for that restaurant on the Resort link.

The group events are very informal. Polo shirts, and shorts for men as well as sundresses for women were about as formal as these events generally get. Having said that, live your best life! Keep in mind this is a work event.

Currency / Tips

The local currency is the Mexican Nuevo Peso, known colloquially as ‘Peso’. Resorts will typically take USD, and will also have an exchange counter to convert your USD into local currency.

DoorDash will also be providing each couple with $100 USD for tipping purposes. These funds will be received when you arrive at the resort. Suggested tip is $5-10 during breakfast/lunch and $10-$20 for dinners per couple.

Covered Expenses

In addition to tips, DoorDash will cover the below expenses on each individual’s Brex card:

  • $100 per pair for food and beverage on the Monday (5/19) travel day

  • $100 per pair for food and beverage on the Thursday (5/22) travel day

  • $150 to cover Lyft + baggage (if any) to the airport from their home on Monday (5/19)
